There is lots going on behind the scenes here at EARS to ensure that Big EARS goes smoothly and that flyers get to enjoy a great copule of days flying. Please read through the following as there are some important announcements that visitors to Big EARS need to be aware of.....

On Site Vendors:

EARS a very please to announce that the following Vendors will be on site to cater for all your rocketry needs:

Rockets and Things * Deepsky Model Rocket Shop * Apo11o Model Rocketry

Following on from the recent clarification from UKRA (see the article Flying at UKRA Events on the UKRA website) on cross certification and what size motors can be flown under which insurance. EARS have to request that all flyers bring proof of their current BMFA / UKRA membership with them. Acceptable proof is : for UKRA your UKRA membership card with current year card, for BMFA your BMFA Membership card. No proof. No fly. EARS will have as up-to-date as possible UKRA membership list available to double check for any members whose applications are still being processed. Unfortunately we are unable to offer the same facility to BMFA members. EARS hope that all flyers will understand and cooperate with this request.

Visitors to Big EARS are welcome to camp at the site for a small fee. If you want to get there early then you can camp from Friday afternoon / evening. You can also stay on 'till Bank Holiday Monday if you dont want to rush off on Sunday afternoon.

If you are hoping to make any certification flights, are planning on taking the L2 exam or are looking to have an RSO interview then PLEASE remember to bring your new Certification documents with you. We can only sign off passes on the new multipart documents.

Food and Water:

For the last two years where we have invited food vendors to attend Big EARS and they have not made enough to cover their costs. As a result we have decided not invite a food vendor this year as it is unfair to have them be disapointed and out of pocket.
With the EARS container now on site we will be able to offer tea, coffee and hot water (for those with the pot noodle horn ;0) ) all weekend. If the weather looks good on Saturday afternoon / evening then we are hoping to run a "bring/cremate your own" Barbeque. We will provide the flames, you provide the meaty goodness etc. There is a Morrisons very near by to source materials. There are a number of
restaurants within a short distance of the site for those wishing to dine in more style.

THERE IS NO POTABLE WATER ON SITE! We dont have access to any drinking water at the site. Please remember to bring your own.

Clothing and Footware:

EARS fly from an arable farm. Please bring sutiable footware and clothing. If it is sunny bring a hat and sun cream. If it is over cast bring warm clothes the site can be quite exposed. We wont mention rain at all cause there wont be any!! ;0))

PLEASE NO PETS! A rocket launch is not a suitable place for pets. If you have to bring your pet it must be kept on a leash at all times. People preparing rocket motors, ejection charges or recovery systems need to concentrate on what they are doing not worry about what a dog is doing.
